Sebel berat

Sebel nih. Banget, banget, banget. Udah e-mail ke beberapa orang di penerbit, tidak satupun yang balas. Apa sih susahnya reply 1 line juga... dari katanya akhir Mei sampai pertengahan Juli gak ada kabar pasti keluar di toko bukunya kapan.

Gak tau juga udah masuk katalog Gramedia / Gunung Agung / Kharisma belon... Even novelku yang Sydney, Darling Harbour udah dimasukin katalog dulu (padahal cover lagi didesain, orangnya lagi nanya aku mau maksud ideku).

Masa sih harus suruh my lil sis nelponin penerbit? (menghemat biaya IDD, kan sama-sama di Yk)

kok belum dibales ya?

Hiks udah ku e-mail seminggu kok belum dibales ya? Katanya akhir Mei selesai cetak n siap di toko buku??? *grundel-grundel* Yeah itulah kalau kebiasa serba "wuz wuz" di Sg, harus belajar sabar dengan sistem "pelan" di Indonesia...

Di bawah ini sudah terlampir cover terakhir yang telah direvisi

Untuk judul schoolaholic nanti pada proses cetaknya bisa dikasi tinta emas/ perak yang mengkilat.

• Untuk buku 1. karakter cowok tubuhnya sudah sedikit diperbesar. mengingat pada masa SMP ukuran tubuh cowo memang ga besar-besar amat kan? (dalam masa pertumbuhan^^). Garis tangan juga sudah dikasi outline jadi terlihat jelas. untuk baju warna putih sudah diberi outline warna biru muda, lebih bagus daripada abu-abu. Celana cowo sudah diperpanjang, rambut cowo juga sudah diberi kilapan cahaya.

• Untuk buku 2. Boncengan untuk motor sudah diperpanjang, begitu juga dengan tangan dan badan cowok yang sudah mengalami perubahan.

• Untuk buku 3. Leher cowo sudah diperkecil demikian juga dengan jari tangannya yang sudah mengalami perubahan. kemudian tangan kiri si cewe juga sudah dirubah sedikit begitu juga dengan model rambutnya, saya harap sih model rambutnya fix yang ini, karena menurut saya cewe lebih cakep klo rambutnya tergerai seperti ini.

untuk judul schoolaholic 2 belum diganti, tadi kelupaan. Karena format jpg jadi grs outlinenya ga terlalu jelas. klou dicetak pasti akan terlihat jelas.

Untuk Judul The miracle boys dengan warna hijau di buku 1 apa kelihatan? dengan penempatan seperti ini karena tdk ada space kosong, atau sebaiknya dikasi warna ungu tua biar judul menonjol (seperti desain buku 1 yang kemarin) dan semua Judul (buku 1-3) diseragamkan warna ungu?

Ok. klo ada masukan lagi aku tunggu! Thanks masukannya. Desainnya jadi lebih bagus dari sebelumnya.

Almost Final (cover again)

Just sent my comments to Wheny's. Yes almost midnite in Singapore time.

Special credit goes to Sharon Ng (my colleague @ Gallup Singapore), Riana n Mayrinna (my sisters in Sg), my trusted friends Miss Magdalena Tiopan, Mr Jemmy Soenjaya (in Sweden) -- you are super meticulous! (Maximizer?) and also thanks to Mr Leo Santana yang hari ini cuti gak bilang2 - minta dikirim ke gmail itu benernya karena gak bisa buka e-mail kantor yah hehehhe.

PS: Sorry dik David Sentanu was not involved this time around as I was very busy in the office, lembur lagi ye, so didn't contact you when you were online, sibuk ngudel2 tabel tadi. Mr Harry Suhartanto and Dr Dede were not involved this time around as I know their turnover rate is pretty slow (esp Pak Harry, Dr Dede mah not that bad kalau dimintai pendapat). And actually because they are not as meticulous as the abovementioned advisors (hohoho, kualat sama orang tua nih nulis di blog gini!). Tapi tak mengapa, memang begitu kenyataannya. Mata orang tua berbeda dengan mata anak muda huehehehhe

Di bawah ini sudah terlampir cover terakhir yang telah direvisi. Untuk buku ke 3 background dipilih menara seoul karena untuk memfokuskan setting cerita, bukan suasana malam, kalau suasana malam nanti persepsi orang lain bisa berbeda-beda tentang setting.

Dari Mbak Desy sendiri diusahakan untuk cover2 fiksi di buat dengan warna2 yang cerah dan menghindari warana gelap.u ntuk judul Schollaholic lebih suka yang buku 1 atau 3. kalau ada perubahan lagi apa ada masukan2, atau contoh font yang diinginkan?untuk logo seila jangan khawatir tidak kelihatan, karena nanti akan di embos/spot Ok.

Dear Yunisa
perkenalkan saya Wheny's, ilustrator cover novel anda schoolaholic.
di bawah ini saya sertakan sket kasar untuk novel scolaholic sesuai diskripsi yang anda berikan. ini baru sket kasar untuk hasil jadinya kemungkinan tidak seperti ini. karena pembuatan ilustrasi memakan waktu yang sedikit lama jadi sangat sayang bila ilustrasi yang sudah jdi tidak di acc pengarang.
karena itu saya menunggu persetujuan dan masukan2 untuk sket ini sebelum saya kerjakan ilustrasi komputernya. untuk judul dan bacground bisa menyusul.

*untuk buku 1 gambar cowok di situ seharusnya berapa? kalau kebanyakan apa ga memberi kesan penuh? karakternya gimana aja (bentuk tubuh, rambut dll)?

*untuk buku 2 ada 2 alternatif, kalau yang dipakai yang motornya kelihatan semua nanti ekspresi tokoh jadi kurang terlihat jelas, karena gambar tokoh jadi mengecil. atau ada masukan lagi?

Oh iya untuk space logo seila memang dari penerbit diharuskan seperti ini (diberi space kotak garis lengkung disamakan dengan semua fiksi andi) ok! saya tunggu masukan2 nya

However, my decision is final. This afternoon I have submitted a long list of suggestion and comments based on the boys' similar reviews. Oh boy, it does scare me very much... Masa desain covernya dibilang "cewek bangetz" dan banyak banget salah persepsinya dari melihat cover vs. mengira2 isi novel. Dan kesalahannya parah banget pula! All of them do like my first novel's design (and story), tapi desain yang ini ditolak mentah2 (gak bakal beli kalau ngeliat cover kayak gini). Padahal pangsa pasar trilogi ini tuh tidak cuma cewek... Tapi juga cowok!!! Dan juga biar cowok beliin ceweknya *cieeehh, serius nih*

Oh well, I think giving a background will definitely improve the cover design to sell more to the boys!!!

YEAH, another work during the weekend: Convert the A4 manuscript into the size of the actual book, cut the pages (remove the scenes and dialogues such that it won't compromise the plot).

Akhir pekan sibuk lagi berkutat di depan laptop nih. Milihin adegan yang mau kupotong.
Terus mesti e-mail ke dia daftar yang aku delete.

Dear Yunisa,
Saya sudah terima koreksian 3 buku Shoolaholic Princess. Sekedar pemberitahuan saja, khusus buku 2 dan 3, menurut saya ada missing font dalam softwarenya mbak Yunisa. Saya check di komputer layouter, kesalahan seperti tanda kutip tidak ada sama sekali. Semuanya normal.
Tetapi koreksi tetap kami hargai.

Ada beberapa hal lagi yang ingin saya diskusikan.
Beberapa hari setelah menerima hasi koreksi, dan saya bicarakan bersama editor juga tim pemasar, ada masukan yang perlu diperhatikan.Yaitu, buku untuk remaja tidak boleh terlalu tebal. Apa efeknya?
pertama, harga buku menjadi lebih mahal, dan ini mengurangi minat beli remaja. kedua, remaja rata-rata fokus membaca antara 150-175 halaman.
Riset ini baru, jadi belum berlaku untuk novel yang terlanjur kami terbitkan.

Sementara semua novel Schoolaholic memiliki jumlah halaman di atas 200.
Untuk itu kami akan melakukan edit ulang, supaya bisa memenuhi maksimal 200 halaman saja. Semoga mbak Yunisa bisa mengerti kebijakan kami.

Kami tawarkan kepada mbak Yunisa, untuk memotong bagian mana saja dari novel supaya tercapai max 200 hal untuk masing-masing buku.
Kalau mbak Yunisa tdak berkenan, editor kami yang akan mengedit ulang naskah.

Mimpi. I'm dreaming...

I was chatting with Suhu JC (Josh Chen, from KoKi) -- and I told him I enjoyed this moment in my office -- after being so busy for months.
JC: Suhu Cilik lagi ngapain?
Yunisa: Translate novel, mau aku ikutin lomba MAN Literary. Tahun lalu dikomentari kok semua tokohnya cinta pada pandangan pertama...
JC: hahahha
Yunisa: kan ditulis biar bisa difilmkan (I wrote my novels for getting them filmed)
JC: imajinasi tinggi (high imagination)
Yunisa: harus mimpi dulu dong... (dreaming is a must)
Then I told him a childhood story when I told my father that I will go to the US with my sister (that time I only had 1 sister). And now, it had become a reality. So my father was amazed, still could not believe that I indeed went to the US with that sister.

Oh yeah, the reason I am translating Heart Actually instead of Schoolaholic is because the market for Heart Actually is more into "older adults" and not "teens" and the Asian values (read: Indonesian values) are more apparent (more serious haha) in Heart Actually. Sydney Pelabuhan Darling seems not really Asian (coz of the background). Memory & Destiny has not been sold out to a publisher (and the 2nd installment is still in progress).

So I believe in God's miracle that this Schoolaholic will be a TV series someday in the future... What I need is just have a little faith and find a producer :D Producer, producer, where are you?

BTW, thanks to Leo Santana -- he helped me to deliver (either by post or by hand) the corrected layout manuscripts back to the publisher.

koreksi naskah

21 Dec 07 sent the contracts back (I was back at home sweet home, Yogyakarta tercinta)
Actually the 3 contracts have arrived sometime in November :P

Today I have printed the 3 PDF files -- with lots of formatting errors. whoaaaaaaaaa!!!
Gonna read all of them this weekend, then ask a favor from my good friend whose parents are supposed to go back to Yogya (next week?) to bring the marked print out back to Yogyakarta.

Selamat menunggu kehadiran serial Schoolaholic di tahun yang baru ini :)

Buku 3: Simfoni Cinta (Melintas Samudra)

Nah buku ke-3 ini tidak bisa dibilang sepenuhnya teen-lit, karena ceritanya bersambung sampai masa kuliah. Format ceritanya lain daripada yang lain karena memakai sistem pagelaran simfoni orkestra (dikelarkan akhir tahun 2006 saat saya lagi getol membuang dollar buat nonton konser-konser musik klasik yang super mahal ataupun yang gratisan di almamater, National University of Singapore).

Apakah hubungan jarak jauh membuat prestasi belajar anjlok? Sepertinya memang begitu kenyataannya. Untunglah, si kembar Deni dan Yosef, kakak kelas SMP Nana justru memilih mengambil beasiswa ke Singapura. Mungkinkah cinta lama bersemi kembali?

Sementara itu tawaran Phil, sang doi tidak main-main. Ia menyuruh Nana menyusulnya, kuliah di Amerika dan menikah! Antara cinta dan cita-cita, pilih mana? Dan anehnya, permainan nasib justru membuat saingan cinta malah bersahabat karib. Loh kok bisa?

Bagaimanakah akhir petualangan pencarian cinta Nana si Schoolaholic?

Jawabannya, happy end! Intinya, tidak usah pusing-pusing, kalau jodoh ya pasti ketemu, kan sudah diatur Tuhan hehehe =D Cuma masalahnya dalam perjuangannya juga berat. Itu namanya hidup!

3rd Book: Love Symphony (Across the Ocean)

This 3rd book can't be categorized as fully teen-lit, as the story continues to university time. The format of the story is different because I use a system derived from symphony orchestra show (finished written by end of 2006 when I was crazily spending dollar for going to super expensive classical music concerts or the free ones in my almamater, National University of Singapore).

They said long distance relationship cause a drop in academic achievement? It seems so for Nana. Fortunately, the twin Deni & Yosef, her senior in Junior High chose to take the scholarship to Singapore. Can it be rekindling old flames?

Meanwhile, Phil's offer, is not just a play. He asked Nana to go to the States, study there, and get married! Between love and passion (what you want to be), which want would you choose? Strangely, the game of destiny even makes those love competitors to be best friends. How come?

How would the end be in this adventure of Nana, the Schoolaholic in finding love?

The answer is happy ending! In summary, there is no need to get headache, if it is meant to be, you will find it, as God has determined everything haha =D The problem is just when we have to fight for it, it is hard. That is life!

Sinopsis Buku 2: Romansa Singapura

Buku ke-2 itu seperti judulnya, urusannya mulai bukan hanya pelajaran sekolah, tapi juga tekanan teman-teman yang mengajak pacaran!

Selepas SMP, dunia Nana sudah tidak sesederhana sebelumnya. Ketika karantina lomba Covergirl di Singapura, Nana malah bertemu cowok impiannya, Phil, yang persis Ryu Akira, tokoh idolanya.

Sonny, teman dari TK memintanya menjadi pacarnya. Demikian juga Frans dan Budi – dua cowok pemenang Coverboy. Rudy menyodorkan koran yang mengiklankan beasiswa ke Singapura saat Nana mulai menikmati kehidupan baru anak SMA dengan sohib barunya, Inge.
Nana berharap, jika ia berhasil mendapatkan beasiswa itu, ia bisa lari dari tiga cowok yang menembaknya dan bisa bertemu kembali dengan Phil. Tapi ternyata, si kembar Deni-Yosef juga menyukai Nana, walau Yosef memutuskan untuk mengalah.

Semula Nana mengira sahabat SMP-nya Dian, menaksir si kembar. Dan si Novi, sahabat dari SD menyukai Rudy. Ternyata itu salah! Sudah lama Dian naksir berat sama si Rudy dan si Novi justru kesengsem sama Oliver. Upaya Nana menjadi mak comblang gagal total. Baik Rudy maupun Oliver, dua-duanya menyukai Nana!

Phil memang bukan orang biasa. Dan dia juga serius sama Nana!

2nd Book: Singapore's Romance

As the title specifies, the second book is not merely school lessons, but also peer pressures asking Nana to date him!

After Junior High, Nana's world was not as simple as before. During Covergirl competition's quarantine in Singapore, Nana met her dream man, Phil, who looks like Ryu Akira, her idol.

Sonny, her friend from kindergarten asked her to be his girlfriend. So were Frans & Budi, the winners of Coverboy. Rudy gave her a newspaper cutting about scholarship to Singapore when Nana started to enjoy her new life as a Senior High School student with her new best friend, Inge. Nana hoped, if she managed to get the scholarship, she could run from three boys who asked her to be their girl friend. However, the twin Deni-Yosef also liked her, although Yosef decided to give in to his twin brother.

At first, Nana thought her Junior High best friend, Dian, liked the twin. And Novi, her best friend from Primary School liked Rudy. But she was wrong! Dian had long fallen for Rudy and Novi liked Oliver. Nana's effort to matchmake totaly failed. Both Rudy and Oliver, liked Nana!

Phil wasn't an ordinary guy. And he's also serious with Nana!

Konfirmasi Penerbitan

Yuhu, minggu lalu Penerbit Andi @ Yogyakarta telah mengkonfirmasi akan menerbitkan tiga buku serial Schoolaholic ini, unlike alm. Penerbit Cinta yang minta di-squeeze 3-in-1 (emang lalu lintas? hehe)

Adik-adikku sampai marah pas denger tawaran dari alm Penerbit Cinta itu... Mereka sangat tidak rela karena menurut mereka (sampai mata 1 watt baca begitu aku selesai nge-print first draft saking asyiknya): Cerita sebagus ini, bisa nunggu produser buat dibikin serial! Enak aja kalau disqueeze! *huehehehe*

Inilah judul serial Schoolaholic (working titles from me, most likely Penerbit tidak akan mengganti)

1. Schoolaholic Princess 1; Pangeran-Pangeran SMP
2. Schoolaholic Princess 2; Romansa Singapura
3. Schoolaholic Princess 3; Simfoni Cinta Melintas Samudra

Buku pertama basically isinya cerita sesungguhnya dari my sisters (Riana, Mayrinna, Martha Rinna) plus cerita diriku sendiri waktu bersekolah di Indonesia (plus cerita kejadian di kelas / sekolah kami). Jadi ini nostalgia banget. Makin dibaca, makin demen (kata adik-adik) karena isinya memang bikin ketawa, sebel, atau terkenang masa lalu *huehehhe, sentimentil banget*

Buku kedua, itu purely K-drama banget! Waktu kutulis di rumah baru (PK = PaKuningratan), aku lagi demen banget nonton drama Korea... plus waktu itu, aku kangen sama suasana tertib di Singapura (not anymore! Sekarang lagi sebel sama yang namanya Singapore, terutama Changi Airport dan antrean taxi. Masa aku semalem mendarat almost midnite, antre taxi sampai 45 mins, kagak ada trolley buat bagasi. Officers ditanya jawabnya: Trolley is not under our control!). Anyway, let me warn you: tokoh keren di buku ke-2 bakal bikin hati kebat-kebit (heuehehe karena memang fantasi banget, tokoh khayalan paling keren yang pernah saya bikin).

Buku ketiga sih memuaskan karena happy ending. Jadi tidak merasa sia-sia telah mengikuti perkembangan si tokoh utama dari SMP sampai menemukan cintanya (CLBK, bocoran).

Penerbit Cinta di Bandung tutup (closed down for good). Thank God that I haven't agreed fully to publish this series with them :)

So I am offering this to other publisher and still pending their management's decision. Anyway, this series is going to be published sooner or later :)
